Bicycle
Friendly Community
A bicycle-friendly community is a community that feels safe, convenient and pleasant for all ages and abilities to ride a bicycle.
The City of Easley is exploring ways to make Easley South
Carolina that safe place to travel by bicycle, for the health
benefits cycling offers to its citizens and also to promote
energy conservation.

Biking and Fitness Trails within the Easley Parks and Recreation Master Plan
It has been determined the City of Easley is in need of 9 miles of hiking/nature trails, and 9.5 miles of fitness/jogging trails, for a total of 18.5 miles of trails. Ideally, the City of Easley will have a trail network throughout the City that connects schools, parks, the town center, places of interest, and neighborhoods.
For the purpose of this master plan, we focus on park trails and connector trails. Park trails are multi-purpose trails located within parks. The surface material and trail type (nature, biking, fitness, etc.) is determined by the size and location of the park they are in. Park trails are most suited for neighborhood parks and community parks.
Connector trails are multi-purpose trails that link places of interest through safe travel by pedestrians and bikers. Connector trails are usually paved and allow multimodal access.
This master plan recommends park trails be included in all proposed neighborhood and community parks, as well as an element of improvement to Woodside Park, and Kings Park. A Multi-Modal Trail Master Plan would need to be completed in order to make complete recommendations for a connector trail system. However, based on community input from this Park and Recreation Master Plan, we are recommending a connector trail between Pope Field Park and J.B. Owens Recreation Complex to be completed as part of the five year funding plan.
